Hello Derek.

I am no AMD expert -- I'm just a student of the A. Gordon Institute of AMD
Knowledge. :) (Aaron Gordon posts here often and could tell you nearly
everything you could ever want to know and I am sure more that you didn't...) ;)

The A64 4000+ is a great chip -- but as it has just been released, it is quite
expensive. It also retained the older 2.4GHz speed but did receive a bump in
the L2 Cache to 1MB. If you were looking for the absolute best processor from
AMD, it would be the FX-55 because of its 2.6GHz clock. It's also $820 or so
(at the moment.)

As far as your question about the .09 micron processors, they are out. However,
to my knowledge, only the A64 3000+, 3200+ and 3500+ are currently available.
See my intial email to Dai about this (1.8, 2.0, 2.2GHz are their respective
speeds...)

You'll have to wait for 2.4 and 2.6GHz speeds of the 90nm to hit the market.
Check the following link for AMD Processor Road Map -- giving you their forecast
of when future chips are available.

I can't help much with your last question because I prefer to build my own boxes
and get EXACTLY the components I want. Buying pre-built systems can give you
more than you want in some areas and not what you wanted in others. Also, I
like to use the best components throughout.

You might check the following links -- I know they are popular sites for
'somewhat' self-configured systems (where you can at least choose much of what
goes into the system.) I cannot vouch for either though -- I have not purchased
anything from them personally.
