Good question. My dual athlon has 1.5GB RAM, and when I start Deep Fritz 8 the hash size defaults to 512MB. So presumably it will run with that. I use 256MB though. The default is probably based on the amount of RAM in the machine. Say the machine had 4GB - would the default be any larger than 512MB ? Don't know Perhaps the queston is not "what is the largest amount possible" but "what is the point at which increasing it any more make little or no difference" ?
