Hiya Michael >Does the "Black Square Attack" work for black and white? >Black to move. > :)) I think the correct move is to "King the pawn" >Changing the subject is it possible to get more "Retro" than a Boris? > >My Retro top ten :- > >1. Boris >2. TEC (also delightful) >3. RFT SC-1 (a sturdy beast indeed) >4. Commodore Chessmate >5. Boris Diplomat >6. Multi Tech HG-21 >7. Chess Champion Super System III with LCD and Printer >8. Tryom Electronic Chess >9. CC1 (for its ranks/files and cheating) >10.Scisys Mark IV very nice list..some comments.. the RFT SC1 is very rare..more commonly seen is the SC2 The Tryom was released in two colors..dark(common) and white(rare) Scisys Mark IV is a great choice..not many even know of this computer,as the Mark III and Mark V/V1(Philidor) were sold in far greater quantities > >Which are your favourites? well i have to say i love all of my chess computers equally :)) seriously..if i have to choose 10 computers(from prior to 1990) and get rid of all of the rest they would be... 1.Novag Robot(with printer and clock) 2.CC1 3.Scisys Mark V1(with sensor board attachment) 4.Fidelity Decorator Challenger(cost me an arm and a leg and im keeping it come hell or highwater!!) 5.Applied Concepts Prodigy(company had actually changed their name to Destiny when they released this) 6.Fidelity Prestige Challenger(got to have at least ONE full sized tournamant board..man does not live by portables alone) 7.Applied Concepts TSB IV La Regence(ok ok make that two full sized boards) 8.Novag Savant Royale 9.Conchess(any board is ok) with T8 (PLYMATE) and L16 library module 10.Mephisto Glasgow module (again any board is ok) i reserve the right to make changes to this last whenever i see fit that was not easy nor was it kind of you to make me pick and choose like that :))) Best Regards Steve
