This is from the readme for point 1) this trick is also needed for analysis to bypass-book (rename dbchs.dat to e.g dbchs.dat000 while doing analysis) ..... UCI -------------------------------------------------------- The tips below are only workaround for bugs in the Chessbase GUI. The tricks are not needed under ChessPartner. 1) when playing from test-positions NUNN-1/NUNN-2,,, and book should be disabled the GUI option "OwnBook" unfortunately does not work (Chessbase GUI error) Solution : rename gandalfs own book, dbchs.dat to e.g. dbchs.dat000 and gandalf will play without book. 2) when playing normal games and you only want to use gandalfs book, dbchs.dat, use "File -> New -> OpeningsBook" to create an "empty.ctg" book, and attach this "empty book" when playing normal games to enable only gandalfs own book. This is a known "trick/workaround" since gandalf 4.
