>in fact met them in units of the 90's, like Travel Master. this little portable computer has an amazing history in its short shelf life. FIRST handheld portable computer to offer a full touch sensory playing surface the technology was not perfected so well and was the only computer ever to actually be recalled by the factory due to an alarmingly high defect rate. Fidelity offered to have the units returned in return for a credit against another computer Fidelity outsourced the manufacturing of the sensory playing surface to CXG Industries(another well known maker of chess computers at that time).when the units started to become defective, Fidelity looked to CXG for remedy and this caused the ultimate bankruptcy of CXG a lot of history for one of the smallest chess computers ever made it is very very hard to find a completly working Travel Master today. as far as the new programs for todays dedicated units, you are of course right. i think the last real new program was in 1998 by Morsch(initially with Conchess) for Mephisto(Senator and Magellan modules) i am also fairly certain the Excalibur GM(and now Plantinum GM) were new programs but as far as anything being currently sold ..there is nothing new under the sun Steve
