Well, the first law is to have fun. If you find GNU a tough opponent, then know
that there are weaker ones out there. This isn't a put-down by any means, since
the top commercial programs are a handful for the best players in the world, so
don't hesitate to find a more accessible opponent. There are many, and for free.
You might also consider picking a primer on chess tactics as this will do
wonders for your game. Have fun. :-)
