You can place a great deal of reliance on Eric Hallsworths ratings. I have
subscribed to his Selective Search publication for nearly 20 years. Testers
submit game scores to him from the USA, England and all over Europe - computer v
computer and human v computer. He crosschecks the results he is getting with the
Swedish List which also is well regarded. The popular machines/software
programmes amass hundreds and some thousands of games, e.g. the Fidelity Mach
III elo of 1986 is based on 5473 games.

As far as I know Eric does and continues to do the opening book for HIARCS and
Palm HIARCS, he may contribute to other programmes, but not as far as I am
aware.

As for prices, they are always cheaper in the USA :( but if we import them we
have to pay 17.5% on top (computer and postage) plus postage, handling,
insurance etc and sometimes they are still cheaper!!!

All the best
Mike
