7 to 8 years ago, most PC programs not using the EGTB's were not able to solve
this very quickly. Crafty, one of the first PC programs to use EGTBs, was able
to solve this quicker than most programs and even annouce mate. (Note - this
was before the 5 MAN EGTB's were available)
Once again, Crafty has set the standard, announcing mate in this position
relatively quickly compared to its peers in the PDA world.
Nicely done by Pocket Crafty Classic 2004 nested in the CEBoard chess tool
program by our own Alain Zanchetta using 3/4-MAN EGTB's -available here :
