Barry, Next I would suggest reinstalling the GUI from CD then testing. To blind the installer from the current install you might rename the folder (Chessprogram8 is most likely) to "Fritz8 040416" or some such. I do this prior to every Fritz, Shredder, Junior, ect... update or install that I try. See if the new install fails here. If all is well then reapply your favorite patch level and test again. I'm am thinking maybe your file versions for this got out of sync somehow, especially if you've applied the many patches, Shredder, Hiarcs, Junior, ect that many of us have installed. To be certain some version/s sometime had a problem with importing games to opening book. All I can say is that I remember it. BK
