If you're using Gnome, I suggest Eclipse or Anjuta.
If you're using KDE, I suggest Eclipse or KDevelop.
Otherwise Eclipse.

Note that the support in Eclipse for C/C++ is not on par with the Java-support.
IMHO it's more than useable though.
