Subject: Welcome new movei

Nice to get the chance to try a new version of one of the most interesting
amateur engines availlable.

First game of a new engine or new version is always a thrill.

Movei was just as sceptical as usual in its new incarnation and first game on my
computers.

a.) While watching the game it occured to me that eval is a bit similar to a
bet. Junior put its money on the assessment that a pair of bishops is at least
about a pawn better than a rook and two pawns in late middlegame or endgame -
Movei disagreed. Even without the additional king safety issue in the game I
think Junior is just right.

Movei made Junior work hard for the game - one or two critical Junior moves were
found very late, which is again typical, so

b.) The top pros just use their time much better. It doesn't work always, but
there is a strong tendency that they will spend much time when it matters, to an
extent that in pro-amateur game they usually have about a 2-1 time advantage
during the critical moves ( with the exception of Chess Tiger) . I think this
advantage is maybe underestimated.

c.) And yes, Junior is just a bitch anyway- what a mighty prog.

Movei played on Athlon64 3200+(2.0GHz), 64MB Hash, Junior on a P233MMX, 16MB
Hash - looking forward to the next games.

A diagram maybe ?

Junior 8.0.0.2 - movei00_8_295, Computer chess game 2004
[D] r4r1k/p4ppp/2q1p3/2b1P1B1/2B1R1n1/P7/2Q2PPP/5RK1 b - - 0 1

Here movei decided that Nxf2 was a good idea, and that it would be not much
worse after it.
