This is due to aggressive extensions. It surprised me that even just "check" and "one reply to check" extensions can give huge search depths for certain lines. However, IMHO a search of 50 ply at 10 secs a move is a waste of time 99.9999999% of the time. From a programming perspective it's better to severly limit the search extensions when they are much higher than the average search depth. Steve
