Surprisingly some commercial engines like Shredder 8 are not able to identify this type of positions as draw: [D] 8/8/3b4/7p/4k2P/8/8/7K b - - 0 17 If there is also a g-pawn involved matters are not so simple though. For example this position with black to move is won for black: [D] 8/8/7p/7P/4k1P1/8/6K1/4b3 b - - 0 4
