[D] 8/6k1/1P1p2p1/3Ppn2/3q4/8/6PP/rR2QB1K b - - 0 1 BLACK TO MOVE The Position is from Karpov-Taimanov Leningrad 1977 Karpov has just horribly blundered in a won position with RB3-B1 Taimanov then unleashed the bone crushing N-G3+!! Karpov promptly resigned as there is nothing better then Qxg3 followed by A1-B1 or HxG3 followed by A1-A8! with a heavy loss of material to avoid mate instead of Karpov's klunker of RB3-RB1 ..QE2 holds everything in place interesting is that in going over an old chess computer magazine ,it seems that some of the older computers find Taimanov's N-G3! rather quickly(for example the Novag Super Forte found it in 5 seconds) i have tried this position with two of the newer computers and both of them took more then two minutes to find N-G3! how long does your DEDICATED computer take to find it?? Software PC Engines of course take nano seconds in fact Fritz 8.xyz123 actually found the move 3 seconds before i even clicked on the "move" button :)) Steve
