Subject: The Crafty Website - A new record!!

Author: Peter Skinner

Today I was absolutely shocked when I took some time to look over the statistics
from the website. With the new download manager in place and the hotlink
protection engaged I am able to see _exactly_ how much bandwidth the server is
using. Since Dec 1 these are the statistics from the site.

Bandwidth usage 5.715 / 1200 GB (5.7GB in 2 days!!!)

File downloads:

crafty1917se.zip 0 132
crafty1917sepb.zip 1 94
craftysepbs.zip 2 21
cc2004full.zip 3 86

Only the second column of numbers is really relavant. It shows the actual number
of downloads of a given file. The first column is just where I added them on the
site as they would appear.

99.97% of the people downloading the files above now see the main site. This is
a HUGE climb from 57.62% before. I attribute the huge leap in file downloads
from when other sites were hot linking to one file the user was not seeing the
other file available. Now when they click a link from a direct link on another
person's site they are brought to the main page.

As you can see the number of user files downloaded compared to my own. It is 4-1
or greater. Simply amazing. (Other than the blended build which was always very
popular)

The other amazing think is the last file on the list. I posted a link to the
file here at the CCC and no where else, yet has been downloaded 41 times since
that post (24 hours ago).

I wish the counter I had on the page had worked the entire time, but the
database I use for the forums and the counter was down for a good duration of
the day while I was at work.
