I do not understand how you use the engine for playing with multiple variations. I thought that multiple variation is only for analysis and engines cannot play in these conditions. "the engine will always deliver Qxf1 no matter how much time I give it" means that it practically plays that move based on my understanding(otherwise you could say that the engine will always show Qxf1 as the best move).
