The information given on the ChessBase base page doesn't clearly give reason to believe that Fritz8 'Championship Edition' is substantially different from Fritz8. I suspect that it is the inclusion of the sample Kasparov media file on the CD that makes it different. Perhaps there are changes in the engine and opening book too? It would nice if ChessBase in their advertising would do a little less media hype, but be a lot more sesistive to current owner's of the program, who would actually like to be 'sold' on why it would be worth buying the new program, rather then just updating their current program on-line. I suspect that like most 'big companies', the bottom line is too sell as many units as possible to new users, and 'screw it' about what you say to the current users - As you already got them to buy your product in the past & they are likely to not buy a product with the same version # on it again. What they forget is that those very same customers may well be the best one's to convince to buy their product as gifts during the holidays...
