James, You're right, I was in single variation mode. What a weird bug that multivariation does not pick up the easy mate in one and opts for a bad move. I still love the Gandalf engine, and I usually use singe variation mode, so this does not bother me so much. You can probably find weird bugs like this if you look hard enough in a lot of engines. I'm sure Steen will fix it when he has time to put out a patch. Mark
