Few below the age of say 25 are likely to be interested in old chess computers IMHO. There are good machines on the market which are available at reasonable prices as an entry into the hobby. And as you relentlessly point out on here there is much to be said for over the board play against a chess computer for improving your chess and developing an interest in competitive chess. Far more I agree than in watching computers play "fantasy chess" against each other. That is another aspect of chess which would certainly have more interest for me if I had the skill to develop my own programme and pit it against others. The interest in older slower machines, which are good opponents for ordinary club players might come later. The market for the rare and unusual is a separate matter I think.
