Hello >>Les, take a look at the positions. THEY ARE ALL MATE IN 1. No one posted any >>results because watching a computer trying to solve a mate-in-one is about as >>fun as sticking a pencil in your eye. >> >I think that the reason that noone posted results is that the epd is too long >and most people have no function to read epd file and using a program manually >to analyze the positions is no fun. Is there any reson behind this and what is the solution for each position? Is the only aim to FIND a mate? If that is all just copy all the FEN lines into a "positions.epd", start the Shredder Classic 1.1 GUI with your favorite engine, goto "Mode" -> "Analyse positions", select the "positions.epd", give an extra ply of "0" (zero) and start it. You will get 140 "No solution given" and as a result of this a 140 "Wrong solution" for every single position but a engine should find 140 mates (not necessarily the shortest one) S8 need 1 minute 49 seconds with 256 MB Hash on a A@2200MHz. I am sure there are engines that are faster. Bye Ingo
