HI Clive >Do you think the Star Ruby is about the same as the Ruby in strength, play and >features? :)) you made the same mistake i did i assume you mean to compare the Star Ruby vs.the Star Sapphire well i am not really qualified to rate the strength of the computer but i think the SR is about 100-150 Elo less then the SS both are well over 2000 Elo which makes them a good opponent for a casual game no matter what your level of play is. the SR has a smaller opening book ,and no "game save" feature i think the user interface is more intuitve in the SR making it easier to access the various featurers and options the SR does not come with a simulated carry case like the SS does but it is about 1/2 the price .. all in all i think its a nice computer and certainly a nice Xmas gift for the chess player in your family(or for a friend or even for you) Best Steve
