Well, the ruckus in CSS suggests that his view isn't widely shared (thank
goodness), and you're correct though. In fact his quite distorted (IMHO) view of
what Open Source is all about, suggests that the concept of generosity has
nothing to do with it.

For example, he mentioned that those who are generous are those who can afford
to be. A fairly redundant comment IMHO, since it is clear that I won't be giving
away money I need to pay my bills.

Essentially his argument
(http://f23.parsimony.net/forum50826/messages/114640.htm) seems to be that
generosity should only be done in cases of sheer emergency, and that other forms
of generosity kill self-initiative and small businesses. No doubt he will buy
and not create a Christmas card, so as to not put the small business Christmas
card makers out of business.

You know, despite the many arguments that come to mind, I can't help but wonder
(sorry if this sounds stinky) what his girlfriend must think...
