Subject: Exercise: build your dream dedicate computer chess

Another one of my silly posts... I can't help it! :)

Question: if you could, how would you design your dream dedicated computer
chess?

Here's mine:

I would use the Saitek Mephisto Senator as a basis, so it would have to have
that beautiful wooden pieces and table. The features I'd like to see:

1.Under the board robotic arm a la Phantoms, with option to disable it – it
would have to be auto-sensory with strong magnets

2.Voice with “emotion” - the AI engine would do tricks such as humming “hmmm...”
after you make a dubious move, clear its throat and things like that (the
personality would be downloadable so that you could customize it) – this feature
would also have and on/off buttom

3.USB connectivity and open source driver so that you could watch it play games
stored on a PC

4.Intelligent pieces and board – so that the computer would know it when you
placed a white knight on any square for example – that would make it setting up
a position a natural process

5.Voice recognition (great for disabled people) – just say the moves and the
computer would move your pieces for you (what if you ask 'him' to execute an
illegal move and you hear it say "I'm sorry Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that" :D
)

I do realize the technological challenges here but that's my “dream” machine! :)
