If we compare this tournament with the one where all the programs use the same
book and we take the top 3 programs (Shredder 8, Deep Junior 8 and Deep Fritz 8)
we see that with their own book they are on top of the score list, while without
they are not.
The only exception is Shredder 8.

So, considering that powerbook is very wide and therefore the chances to "get
damaged" by the book are high, the score of DF 8 and DJ 8 are not surprising me.
Probably Shredder got not damaged the same getting playble variations and being
able to win or not to loose.

This is what I always stated because it came out from my tests 28 years ago and
recently too.
