Subject: AMD Athlon or Pentium 4??

Is AMD still regarded to be better for Chess than Pentium.

How does the AMD Athlon 64 2.4 Gig 3700+ compare to Pentium 4 fastest processor?

I am presently using an AMD Athlon 2.1 Gig 2600+. Would upgrading to the 3700+
be a major improvement, or should I wait another year?
