The dual Athlon motherboards and chipsets are very dated - no SATA, firewire, USB2 etc Dual Opteron would be fantastic as would a dual Xeon set-up, but horrendously expensive If you want a general purpose machine (i.re. not juyt for chess) then an Athlon64 is the way to go in my view
