I agree on the notebook computers, but not on the desktop ones. To keep cool and
silent the Intel fast processors is not that easy and if the cooling system does
not work properly the processor is gone...and must be replaced.

Well, Intel made several mistakes in the last 3 years. It has the power resouces
it needs, but seems not willing to take AMD seriously.
AMD is slowing down the new processors and frequency waiting Intel to bring
something worth to do it...amazing...

Exactly...3.8 GHz or 2.8 makes a lot of difference...

Just for your info our expert was a Intel fun until one year ago...after
replacing many units due to the hot summer we had last year and not facing the
same problems on the AMD ones, he changed his mind...

I believe this is more made on past experience than today experience...

Athlons 1.2 or 1.4 are 4 years old systems...they were the first ones...now the
best processor based on performance and cost all together (Pc desktop) is the
AMD K7 Athlon (Barton) 3000+

If you take any Pc games magazine they report this...
