Most users don't know even 20% of what their chess software can do for them,
much less how to get it to do something. I'll be honest in saying that even I
know only about 85-90% of what Chess Assistant 7 can do, and by all means I'm a
pro at using it. Chessbase (I haven't seen the new one though) and Fritz are
much easier, so there I can claim 95-100% knowledge. Still, doing support for
Chess Assistant, not to mention teaching many IMs and GMs the ins and outs of
the programs as well as work methodologies, some who thought themselves quite
knowledgeable, has made this very clear.

Still, it is fair to say that many of them don't really have much use for more
than 30% of what their programs offer, so it's no big deal. I think the biggest
hole in the knowledge isn't one of documentation of functions, but in creating a
comprehensive work structure. Many have only a vague idea at best and are very
inefficient. Just my 2 cents anyhow.
