Mike,
Thats a great question!
Here is why. As eager as many of my friends are to help with testing my engine,
Many of them are not savvy when it comes to setting up and running chess
tournaments. Many of the people are not even very computer savvy.

The types of people who'd I'd get to help would be people like my mom and dad,
siblings, girlfriend, friends from college, the sales guy at work etc. Pretty
much a bunch of people who would love to donate their spare CPU cycles, but not
if it means hours of setting things up and tinkering.

If I'm able to create something that would automate the testing on their
machines, then I'd be able to enlist the help of a much wider group of people.
Thus giving me more accurate feedback on the success of my new versions in a
much shorter period of time.

I hope that helps explain!

Eric
