Hello Eric, you are allowed to use my Engine Hermann in the way you described it here. IMHO fair use of free engines in the first place is a matter of attitude/intentions/spirit. I think your test is what most engine authors want to allow, but it is difficult to put this into a license. What you want to do makes me think about how I defined "private use" in an answer I gave to Gabor Szots some days ago. There I wrote, that giving a copy to friends is no longer private use but I would not complain if he did so. Your case is somewhat different. Not your friends use the software, but you use it on their computers... When I continue to think about this, I will end with a large text that only lawyers understand. Have fun. Greetings, Volker
