I think DGT had nothing to do with it. Ask Steve Schwartz as he was in on the
whole deal. Anyhow, the listed SSDF rating of Tasc is incorrect. The reason is
that a couple of years ago, the Tasc was rated 100 points more than it is now,
and was the highest dedicated unit. Then the SSDF knocked down 100 points from
all programs to try to make their ratings conform to FIDE ratings at the highest
echelons (the PC programs). The Tasc was not tested after that against any
machines, so its rating is essentially 100 points lower for no reason. It would
actually be interesting to see it tested against some of the PC programs on a
K6/450, such as Genius 6.5, Fritz 5, or some other program within shooting
distance to see how it did.
