I'm disappointed as well and find it ludicrously, but if you look like an economist on this it becomes rather clear. Bad customer care is in a competition market punished by reduced sales. But if the alternatives to your product are rather small you won't loose many customers. No other company sells such strong engines like chessbase - the next competitor Lokasoft has clearly weaker engines and a less sophisticated GUI (I'm not talking about bugs). Until the bugs are so annoying that customers will refrain from buying Chessbase products Chessbase has no reason to worry. Junior 8 was delivered with ridiculous bugs too, but Junior 9 sells rather well anyway. So if Chessbase looks on their revenues and not in internet boards they have no reason to change their habit. regards Joachim P.S.: This is not a satirical posting nor am I expressing any opinion whether chessbase does the "right" or the "wrong" thing, I simply tried to analyze the incentive structures for such a company.
