Perhaps what you mean to say is that "for programs X, Y, and Z, tablebases did not improve the strength of the program". I would think the usefulness of the tablebases would depend a great deal on the amount of knowledge in the program. Yace, Hiarcs, and Shredder all have a great deal of endgame knowledge, so it is not surprising that they don't get much benefit. anthony
