Hi Derek, In the past programs were not close to be defeated due to their search depth, however their game was ending up in non-sense as they did not recognize the problem. A good example was when I had choosen a very large book and allowed a closed game with Deep Shredder against Petr Kiriakov. Then on both sides nothing could really make progress. I take it, that without taking a big risk, even GM's may not win just like that, provided the book is sound and the hardware allows sufficient depth. With a Dual Xeon 3.06 I do have a certain confidence not to loose. To win will be very very difficult as Petr is an excellent expert to play against computers. This is, beside my very good relationship to his person, why I very often had challenged him. He is a true challenge for any program. This does not mean that other GM's are not. Not at all. Sergey Volkov was played many times too and I greatly enjoyed it. However, Petr is very special. Kind regards Martin
