Try setting them back to default (there's a "Default" button). "Threshold" should be at -9999 and "contempt" at 15 (or 0). Bad values for these, and for some other params may seriously affect playing strength. Watch the node/sec meter. It should be around 150,000 on a P200. If it's less than half that, you are being slowed by something. As others told you here, running another chess program in parallel is suspect.
