If you have added RAM or USB devices or any other thing that consumes power, you
can seriously damage your system if the power supply is not sufficient. When
building a system, always make sure the power supply is way more than you need,
because down the road, you add new and bigger video cards with bigger RAM and
their own fans, or you add a new processor with a big cooling fan, or simply
more RAM which requires more power to sustain. Also, USB devices all draw
power from the system, like jump drives, thumb drives, web cams, cameras,
printers, scanners, even if they have their own power, adding too many to a USB
chain can have power consequences. You can get all kinds of wierd or
intermittent problems with an insufficient PS, and you can damage hard drives
and controller chips as well.

Just a few thoughts.
