Franck, are you reading? Karl-Heinz mentioned already, that Yace had a similar problem. It turned out, that the function QueryPerformanceCounter() did not work correctly/reliably on the computer of Karl-Heinz. IMO, it has nothing to do with general P4-compability. I was checking for error returns of QueryPerformanceCounter and of QueryPerformanceFrequency, there were none. Microsoft pages seem to indicate, that some BIOSes have bugs, that can yield to wrong behaviour for thes functions. It seems not common, however; otherwise I would have expected many more bug reports for this problem. With a small test program a real clock and comparision of QueryPerformanceCounter and GetTickCount results, one could clearly see, that the QueryPerformanceCounter results were wrong on that computer. It depended on the load of the computer. I am going to use GetTickCount() in the future, at least as an option. Using it already as a fallback when QueryPerformanceCounter is not available. Regards, Dieter
