Go up one level in this thread
Just to add some data I have found about command "intensity" in Byrne's modification to Crafty and nodes count. Using another position, I have found again a "discreteness" of count of nodes searched varying intensity. I.e. varying intensity, one can see jumpy (no smooth) variation in nodes count. BUT... that discreteness is different in this particular test position. Merging the two tests with two positions, I can suspect that averaging all the positions in a normal game one could get an average of nodes count fairly proportional to intensity (just as I had thought it was natural before my little experiences). However, it is possible number of nodes decreases more than proportinally in intensities below 200, making those lower levels, weaker than "expected" by a normal perfomance/speed rule. I think it can be tested doing an averaging of, for example, nodes per second in a game using different levels of intensities. I don't know a direct way to do it, so I "decline" to make that test :-)
