Necchi used in the UCI interface versus the book created by Chessbase. Sandro Neechi said "the classic interface with a better learning feature and a more restricted book moves selection and recent version should add about 30-35 points more at least..." At 40/2, S8 Classic Gui easily wins the brief matches against other engines whereas S8 Chessbase struggled. I'd have to analyze positions in order to conclude that the GUI is affecting the program play in some way. Yes, the opening book is stronger but S8 plays a better overall game also in classic GUI.
