Thank you for your detailed reply Vincent. If you are right in what you say then a mediocre GM (if there such a thing) can beat a program depending on how much he is paid then that would of course mean that he has complete control over the game. I can’t believe that this is true and I have not got $500 dollars to find out! Surely when Kasparov lost to Deep Blue (despite the shenanigans), he didn’t intend to lose. While I agree with you on money determining the result somewhat especially with the top GMs and with some computer savvy GMs I don’t think it is true for all. Best regards Clive
