Here are the results: Shredder 8 (ChessBase)vs. Shredder 7.04 S8-CB 10 (3 wins) S7.04 17 (10 wins) Shredder 8 (Classic GUI) vs. Shredder 7.04 S8-Classic 22 (10 wins) S7.04 16 (4 wins) It's hard for me to believe that only the opening book made such a dramatic difference.
