Some will go to great lengths to ruin a site that previously had no major problems. This past semester I took some web-based classes at a university. They had a website where the instructor and students could communicate through email, message boards, submit assignments, and so on. In previous semesters the site had been fairly simple, and very accessible. This was the first semester of their "new and improved" website. The designer of this site apparently thought "new and improved" meant: "Requires Windows and Internet Explorer" "Requires every web browser plugin ever conceived by man or woman" "Requires user to uninstall half of all useful software on the machine so that every link within the site can be opened in a new popup window without conflicting with the 46 recently installed browser plugins" A nice finishing touch was the java applet on every page that consumed 100% of my CPU while reading class emails on the site. That really improved the already wonderful experience :)
