I have always thought that using adapters should be avoided if possible. Perhaps that is the problem. One way to check it out is to run a List512 (or another UCI engine) vs ShredderUCI in both arena and chessbase gui with no opening book at a set time control. I'll check that out tommorrow unless you would rather do it yourself. Then of course winboard engines could be tested without book under winboard and arena as a similar experiment. I'm of the opinion that for computer tournaments you want an interface and setup that is as simple as possible to avoid "bugs". >--------------------------------------------------------------------- >--------------------------------------------------------------------- >Under Arena 1.1 GUI : Thinker 4.7a as winboard engine with WB Protocol=2 > >Under Chessbase GUI with Wb2Uci adapter > >[ENGINE] >Name=Thinker 4.7a >Author=Lance Perkins, Canada >Filename=Wb2Uci.exe > >[OPTIONS] >Program=ThinKer.exe hashsize=7 >Ownbook=true >HashOnCommandline=false >InitTime=2 >LevelExtend=Strict >Edit=edit >UseSAN=false >Ponder=false >Logfile=false >Priority=Normal >Protocol=2 >AddHintMove=false >ShowThinkingMove=false > >------------------------------------------------------- >-------------------------------------------------------
