Junior9 is a very fine program. One of its main weaknesses is however the inability to evaluate correctly pawn endings when the opposing program has a passed pawn or can create a passed pawn. Rxd1 with a won pawn ending for Black [D]3r1k2/1p3ppp/8/1p6/8/5P2/PPP4P/2K4R w - - 0 25 Fritz8 vs Junior9 Black chose 33...Qxb4?? just to get a lost pawn ending [D]8/5pkp/4pp2/8/qQ6/P5PP/5P2/6K1 b - - 0 33 Junior9 vs Shredder8 White played 51.Rb4? after 51... Kc6 52. Rb6+ Kd5 exchanged rooks 53. Rxe6 Kxe6 54. Kxe4 and lost the pawn ending [D]8/2k5/p3r2p/2P5/R3p1p1/4K1P1/7P/8 w - - 0 51
