Hello Uri,
I'm also not convinced that "Book Learning" is usefull for the average person.
It seems it may have some usefullness when playing on ICC many thousands of
games but the average user will see very little advantage of book learning.  For
instance Rebel 10 opening book consist of over 32,000 variations.  That means
you could play 10 games per day for 9 years and never repeat a variation.
Of course you could play the same line over and over again and eventually make
the program repeat but It seems to me if that is your intent then you should get
a large book of the specific opening you are interested in.
