Can anyone advise on how to weaken CSTAL2? I bought the orginal several years ago from the originator in Oxford and applied both patches when they became available. I set the program's strength at 1 (50 is apparently the strongest setting). But the program still beats me with ease. My rating is probably around 1100. As an experiment I had Tal (set at strength 1) play in friend mode agains Fritz 8 (no handicap) and Fritz lost in about 100 moves. Is the weaken setting broken, I wonder, or do I have to raise my gameplay hugely, or what? Any help would be much appreciated.
