I have been using Chess Assistant 8 for a while now, and what impresses me most
is the quality improvements since version 7. I haven't seen any serious bugs in
spite of extensive use. The user interface has also been improved through the
complete reorganization of the context menus. CA database searches are very fast
and with CQL (Chess Query Language) built in, you can do some very advanced
searches, that are not possible in other chess database systems. Support for CA
8 is very good.

Which is better? It depends on what you are looking for. CA 8 + Chess Tiger 2004
(built in) + Shredder 8 (soon 9!) gives you everything most people could ask for
in a chess database system. I'm not a CB expert, but if you feel that you also
need a system with support for Fritz, Hiarcs and Junior then CA 8 is not an
option. On the other hand WinBoard and UCI support in CA 8 is very good.
