You are probably best using C code, since all beginner examples I have seen are
in C. Also, the alpha-beta algorithm is THE key to all computer chess
programming. All the speedup tricks are based on alpha-beta. alpha-beta can be
difficult for a beginner to understand if the explanation of it is vague. It's
a fact that not all people can explain ideas clearly to beginners. Don't copy
and paste speedup code unless you completely understand alpha-beta and the idea
behind the speedup code.
