Engine Match - S8 (60%) v J9 (40%), 63 Games, Blitz 6'+6", AMD 3000+ I ran an engine match, S8 v J9 (version 9.0.0.2), on my AMD 3000+ 768MB RAM machine, 192MB Hash, Blitz, 6'+6", ponder off, own books, no book learning, all 3,4 and 5 piece EGTB’s. I stopped after 63 games as it seemed that the results would probably hold with more games as they are in line with other results posted here. I was surprised at how fast J9 was running, ~ around 1750-1850 kN/s seemed about average, and sometimes up to ~ 2150 kN/s speed. For a program that is alleged to have a great deal of chess knowledge that speed on my machine, by no means the fastest around, seems more in the brute force category, but, what the hell do I know. Ha! 1. Shredder 8 38/63 60% +27/-14/=22 2700 + 72 2. Junior 9 25/63 40% +14/-27/=22 2700 -72 Games available on request, email me at camorglaw@adelphia.net Specify ChessBase or PGN format. Chris
