Attention!
It seems that Junior 9's book only follows a couple of lines in a variation that
Shredder is dominating with. Shredder's book with learning enabled will happily
follow the lines it won in the previous rounds and Junior's book has exhausted
its options.
To keep the match competitive and to avoid repetitions of games I will make
changes to Junior's book. I don't think its fair to force Shredder to play new
lines as it is winning, so I will not fiddle with Shredder's book.
Here are the lines which occured in rounds 8, 10 and 12. Variations in Junior's
book are shown in parentheses.
1.Nf3 d5 2.g3 Nf6 (2...c6 3.Bg2 Nf6 Transposes to main line move 3)
[d]rnbqkb1r/pp2pppp/2p2n2/3p4/8/5NP1/PPPPPPBP/RNBQK2R w KQkq - 0 4
3.Bg2 c6 4.0-0 Bg4 5.d3 Nbd7 6.Nbd2 e6 7.e4
[d]r2qkb1r/pp1n1ppp/2p1pn2/3p4/4P1b1/3P1NP1/PPPN1PBP/R1BQ1RK1 b kq e3 0 7
Be7 (7...Bc5 8.Qe1 no more book moves in Junior9.ctg. Lead to 1-0 round 10) 8.h3
Bh5 9.Qe1 0-0 10.Nh2 dxe4 11.dxe4 e5 12.Nc4 no more playable book moves
(Junior9.ctg) lead to 1-0 in round 8
The alterations I will make to Junior9.ctg are as follows.
1. Allow Junior9.ctg to play Nf6 (in addition to d5) as a response to 1.Nf3
2. After 1.Nf3 d5 2.g3 Nf6 3.Bg2 c6 4.0-0 I will allow Bf5 in addition to Bg4
[d]rnbqkb1r/pp2pppp/2p2n2/3p4/8/5NP1/PPPPPPBP/RNBQ1RK1 b kq - 0 4
I will not reset or adjust the weights. I'm not happy about having to make
alterations to the book but in this case I think it would make more sense rather
than having repetitions of games due to a lack of variations in the book.
